Web guy's note: We had "lost" our classmate, Louise. Thanks to one of our persistent reunion committee members, she has been found!!!
Louise H-L just emailed us and said, "Thank you for the invitation to the 50-year reunion. The website is most impressive! I will not be able to attend because I live in Mexico with my three cats and two dogs and seldom travel. I have been in CA this month having cataract/lens implant surgery and will return to Mexico this weekend. I am sure the reunion will be fun and hope it is well attended. All the best." email@example.com
Our classmate Myra H-A says, "After RHS I attended and graduated from Elon with a degree in elementary education. Then I taught in Moore County for 3 years and in Rockingham County for 27 years. I retired in 1997 with 30 years of service. My husband and I built a home in the country but he passed away in 2008. Now I spend time knitting sweaters for Guidepost Kids though my church, which I love doing for those children in need."
Doris W-M worked in the dye lab at UNIFI and at Annie Penn until retiring four years ago. "My time now includes church at Eastside Baptist, our local Community Watch, playing bingo at Bojangles, being with my children and grandchildren and helping rescue cats. My oldest daughter has no children and works as an estimator for a company. She recently completed her degree at Forsyth Tech and intends to pursue a BA at ECU. My other girls, the twins, each have children. Pam's son is 13 and has joined the Sea Cadets. His mom works for United Health Care. Patricia has a 3 year old daughter who takes dance. She lives in Charlotte, has her real estate license and enjoys travel with her husband."

Our classmate, Mike L., lives in Reidsville and will be at the reunion with his wife, Fran. Mike is retired from propane delivery and dispatch for NC Gas Service and part time at Radio Shack. He says, "I joined the Navy for four years and met Fran in 1960. We were married in 1964. We have two children, three grandchildren and a great grand child due Nov. 24th. My hobbies are fishing and ham radio." firstname.lastname@example.org
Phyllis B-C Greensboro is retired from nursing. "I am divorced, have no children and have been retired since 2007. I lived in Atlanta for 22 years. While there I worked as a social worker, schoolteacher and fundraiser. In 1991 I moved to Greensboro, went to nursing school and worked as a nurse for 10 years. Since retiring, I do volunteer work and spend 3-4 months a year at the beach. I will be taking a trip to China just prior to our reunion." email@example.com
Glenn S. lives near Greensboro, is still employed (real estate, residential development and apartment rentals) and will attend the reunion with his wife, Melissa. "After RHS I attended Danville Tech Institute and had a 12-year career with IBM at RTP. I then returned to Greensboro and was vice-president of operations for Omni-American. In 1983 co-founded North American Computer Services, Inc and owned and managed it until 2005, when it was sold. In February 1995, my lucky day, I met Melissa and over a period of 2 years our friendship grew to the point of marriage in 1997.We have 3 adult children, 2 girls, Jami and Tricia and a son, Charlie. All are doing well and we are proud of their accomplishments. We enjoy horses and live on a small farm in northern Guilford County with 4 dogs, 2 cats and 4 horses. I am still involved in real estate and Melissa is administrator for a group of medical specialists. Yet, we do get away frequently for R and R. The north western US is our favorite destination." firstname.lastname@example.org
Mary Anne K-P lives in MO near St. Louis and is retired. "I traveled to MS to find the love of my life. I met fun-loving, intelligent Bill P. in the saxophone section of the Ole Miss Band. After we graduated from Ole Miss, Bill went to law school, and I obtained a master's degree in library science. We married in 1966, and in 1968, we moved to Pascagoula, where Bill went into law practice with his dad, and I accepted a job as a librarian at the Gulf Coast Community College. Together, we created a lovely daughter named Lyn and survived three major hurricanes. Sadly, Bill passed away in 1988. I retired in 1998, after 30 years of community college service. I now live near Lyn, Doug, and their two daughters, Amy and Leslie. My hobbies are playing Bridge, reading novels, and watching football games on TV." email@example.com
Carol C-K has been married for 48 years to Brison and has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Carol says, "I am a member of Lawson Rd. Baptist Church where I sing in the choir, sing specials at church and funerals and help with nursery during Sunday School. I am also a member of the Ladies Sunshine Club. I have many medical problems but God is in control. I'm still Blessed."
Garry S. still lives in Richmond, and is attending with his wife, Karolyn. He is retired from work as a mechanical engineer with American Tobacco. "Following graduation from State, I married Karolyn, of Yanceyville, and we moved to Richmond, where we remain after 46 years. Karolyn has a degree in social service and worked in that field until retirement. We have two sons. Blake (name stolen from Joyce H.) lives in Austin,TX and Ted here in Richmond. Both are married but regrettably without children. We are both active in our neighborhood Methodist Church. We also volunteer at a local elementary school. We serve with the Chesterfield County Christmas Mother Program where Karolyn again runs the show while I use my technical background to sort canned food. ;-) I think the secret to a long, long, long marriage is to not be around each other too much. To that end, Karolyn is a fanatic about tennis and loves talking to anyone and everyone on the phone. Gardening and golf keep me busy. Interests we share are eating out with various groups of friends ... about four days a week (since our oven 'died' in 1986) and traveling. We go anywhere as long as it's with friends. Special trips include cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean and a European river cruise. European and American land vacations were also enjoyed. It's hard to believe that 50 years ago going to Myrtle Beach was my wildest dream. Where have the years gone?" firstname.lastname@example.org
Sandra G-P lives in Charlotte and will attend the BIG 50 reunion November 6th in Reidsville. She reports, "Soon after graduation, I married Charles whom I had met on a blind date at the beginning of my senior year. We both spent several years in educational settings finishing degrees: mine in English Education and his in Theology. In 1968 he began his first pastorate and I became a pastor's wife....I assure you that was never my plan. Even though we kept a full schedule, I always found time to long distance run and completed the Huntsville, AL Rocket City Marathon. Although I no longer run, I walk daily and attend exercise classes. Charles and I had the wonderful experience of parenting two sons: David who lives in Madison, WI and Robbie who lives (thankfully) closer to me. There are five absolutely terrific grandsons ranging in ages from 20 to 13 weeks. What a great opportunity our Reunion Committee is providing for us in November...many thanks and see you then." <email@example.com>
Grant K. and his wife, Nancy, suffered the loss of a son recently. Understandably, he isn't sure they will be up to attending the reunion. He says, "I left Reidsville in the fall of 1960 and from there it was 4 yrs. of school in Tennessee, preaching 10 years in Illinois, then 25 yrs. in Virginia, and finally Nancy and I have been 11yrs. in Raleigh where I am a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor). It's overwhelming that 26 of our classmates are deceased. I wasn't expecting that number. It is sad." firstname.lastname@example.org
Webmaster's note: Grant's website that his talented daughter did for him is http://grantkoontzlpc.com.
Thank you Sandra and John M. for telling us, "It certainly does not seem that 50 years ago we were leaving our high school friends and beginning our new journeys into the future. John and I are now sharing our 45th year of marriage and have had many great times. We feel fortunate to have both sets of parents. Our two daughters have been so lucky to have their grandparents all of this time and now their children have had the wonderful experiences they share with them. John and I enjoy our families and all our family times. Trips to the NC coast and mountains are so filled with many wonderful memories. Retirement has been full of good times and happy memories. We are most proud of our three precious grandchildren. They have brought us so much joy. We are looking forward to seeing our classmates at this most important class reunion and making new memories. We thank the committee for all the work it has done. We are looking forward to seeing you on the 6th of November."
Joanne M-O still lives in Winston-Salem. "But I moved to a more convenient home after Gene passed away 22 years ago. It took me 3 years to decide to move ... so many memories associated with the home where we raised 2 sons and a daughter. My children are well and each has 2 children. I am 'Nana' to them and very much enjoy them and my life retired. Besides family, Wake Forest ball games and other things, I go to the "Y" and also participate in a group that sings and dances in nursing homes. Gives me a great feeling to see the faces of older folks light up when we're singing a song they recognize. I plan to be at the reunion early and hope to see all of you there." email@example.com
Lee M. retired from Zarn Plastic where he worked for 42 years. He now does lots of fishing and some painting on the side for other people. He and his wife, Peggy, have been married 47 years, Oct. 12. And still selling real estate for 26 years, and yes, still in politics after 11 years with 3 more to go ... currently Bd of Comm for Nags Head. We love fishing, clamming and just being on or near the water. Husband of 42 years, 'Budgie,' and I enjoy boating and being with grandson Nathan who is 8. Two grown sons, John in Ft. Lauderdale and Jason now split between the OBX and Ky with wife Mindy who is a nurse. Hope to see all at the 50th. Never thought we all would be doing this (use to read about others having a 50th when younger). Just sad, so many of us who did not make it to this date. Best," firstname.lastname@example.org

After being in the Reidsville City Schools through the 8th grade, I graduated from Salem Academy where I was a student in grades 9 - 12. I am a retired high school Spanish teacher. Reading, playing bridge, doing cross word puzzles and cross stitch are favorite past times. The reunion will be fun to attend."
John Franklin B. stayed in Reidsville. and is attending with Sandra, his wife. Unlike most of us, he still earns a living and as President of Reidsville Heating &Air Conditioning, Inc. Since retirement in 2008, we are enjoying spending more time with our grandchildren and one great granddaughter (Ava). My passion is taking care of my flowers and plants." email@example.com
LaVerne S-B now lives in Spring Lake, NC and will attend the reunion with her husband, Weldon. "I am semi-retired ... employed at Sam's Club and working 2 to 4 days a week. During that time Norman and I went our separate ways. I left Zarn and went to Equity Meats. I worked there until Weldon and I married in 1998. We have lived in Spring Lake since. My hobbies are doing crosswords, selling Avon and taking care of Weldon. We have 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild with another on the way." firstname.lastname@example.org
Libby Y-S lives in Richmond Hill, GA and isn't yet sure she and Bob will be able to attend. She retired as a hospital med tech at St Joe's Hospital in Savannah. She writes, "Bob and I have just returned from a trip to Italy with 2 of our children Mary and Mike. I volunteer at St. Joe's gift shop. We have 2 grandchildren from our other daughter, Kathryn. She has been self-employed for the past 36 years as a Health Information Management Consultant primarily in long term care facilities. "As for the really important news -- having briefly dated in high school and college, we were reunited when Roger was pursuing his doctorate and Linda was working in Durham. Roger 'popped the question' and we married in 1971 and have been life partners for 39.5 years! We lived in Greensboro for almost three years before moving to Richmond in 1974 and to Midlothian (near Richmond) in 1999. It has been our privilege to enjoy traveling the world and from our many experiences we know that we live in the greatest country on earth. We continue to have an abiding faith in our country and the character and strength of our fellow citizens. A favorite quote of ours seems appropriate as we look forward to celebrating our 50-year high school reunion: 'Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, “WOW…What a ride!’” email@example.com
